Jee Hoon Seo

Hello, my name is Jee Hoon Seo.

I’m a Korean filmmaker based in New York City from Seoul, South Korea. 

I am a 2024 HRTS Foundation Fellowship Program finalist as well as a Top 50 Writer in ISA’s Fast Track Program. 

My latest short film JESA stars actress Esther Moon from A24’s Academy Award Winning Winning Film, MINARI. Our film was awarded Best Ensemble Acting at NYU Tisch School of the Arts’ First Run Film Festival, a student showcase for thesis films. 

Having grown up in Boston, and served in the Korean army, my films cater to both a Korean and an American audience. 

My previous works have screened at Micheaux Film Festival in LA and the DisOrient Asian American Film Festival of Oregon. 

My next projects include a feature romcom script about a Korean NYU soccer team, a TV pilot on Korean surfing instructors on a dating reality show, and a feature adaptation of a Korean history novel based on the 1980s Gwangju Uprising.
